DANA Sings "St. Brigid's Song" at St. Brigid's Shrine
Last year, DANA released "St. Brigid's Song" to honor the Irish saint and prepare for her 1500th anniversary in 2025. Several weeks ago she sang the song for the first time at St. Brigid's Shrine.
Saint Brigid, Patron Saint of Ireland, was born in Faughart, county Lough. The daughter of a captured Christian slave and pagan chieftain father, she was renowned for her beauty and learning, but Brigid chose Jesus over her father’s arranged marriages.
A disciple and friend of St. Patrick, she founded celebrated convents, monasteries and other places of learning, A famed miracle worker, her teachings remain vibrant today in St Brigid's Cross, her miraculous cloak, illuminated scriptures and her many patronages, but especially in her loving and compassionate mother's heart, as she cared for the sick, the poor and the elderly.
In Ireland, the name ’Muire' was given only to the blessed mother herself, but this courageous and holy woman of God, was honored with the title ''Muire na nGael''; Mary of the Gaels, their beloved St Brigid of Ireland.
